Supermicro has launched three new compact edge computing systems powered by AMD’s EPYC 4005 series processors, expanding its AI workload reach beyond traditional data centers. The lineup includes the AS-E300-14GR, AS-1116R-FN4, and AS-3015TR-i4, all engineered for reliable performance in space-constrained edge environments.
These systems are designed for deployments with limited space, constrained power, and minimal dedicated IT support—ideal for retail, manufacturing, healthcare, and branch offices. Businesses here increasingly process data locally, reducing latency and boosting operational efficiency.
Supermicro tailors these systems for real-time inference and critical edge workloads, focusing on low power consumption and operational costs. Key use cases include loss prevention, frictionless checkout, in-store analytics, and other applications needing fast on-site processing.
All three systems include standard edge security features: TPM 2.0 and AMD Secure Encrypted Virtualization (SEV) to protect workloads and data. IPMI 2.0 remote management simplifies monitoring and administration for systems far from central IT teams.
Each platform has four GbE ports, enabling seamless connections to POS systems, cameras, and enterprise networks—critical for edge environments where one system often interfaces with multiple devices, especially in retail and industrial settings.
Powered by AMD’s EPYC 4005 series (Zen 5 architecture), these entry-level chips offer 6-16 cores, balancing performance and cost for SMEs and edge deployments. They support DDR5, PCIe Gen 5, 65W+ TDPs, and select models have AMD 3D V-Cache to boost data-intensive edge AI performance.
Supermicro AS-E300-14GR
Leading the lineup is the AS-E300-14GR, a 1U mini box in a 2.5-liter enclosure. It supports up to 16-core EPYC 4005 processors and 192GB DDR5, ideal for embedded/space-constrained edges. Its HDMI/MiniDisplay connectivity suits POS use, and it includes a dedicated out-of-band management port plus four GbE ports.

The AS-E300-14GR (Mini-1U embedded) supports up to 192GB DDR5-5600 across four DIMM slots—impressive for its size—enabling it to handle data-intensive edge workloads without performance loss.
Storage includes a 2.5-inch SATA bay, two M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 NVMe slots, and a low-profile PCIe 5.0 x16 expansion slot. Connectivity highlights: four 1GbE LAN ports, BMC management port, USB 3.2, HDMI 2.1, and Mini-DP—all in a 264.8x43x225.8mm fan-cooled chassis, perfect for space-limited edges needing performance and remote management.
Supermicro AS-3015TR-i4
Lastly, the AS-3015TR-i4 is a slim tower system designed for quieter environments and for easier installation in edge locations without dedicated server rooms. The data sheet was unavailable; however, the tower can accommodate a dual-slot GPU measuring 2.7 inches high by 6.6 inches long, including support for a dual-slot GPU such as the NVIDIA RTX PRO 2000 Blackwell. The 9-liter chassis also includes options for a slim optical drive and a 3.5-inch disk drive, providing additional flexibility for edge deployments that still require local media or storage.
